Why not try fishing in the Wye? If you don't have your own rods and tackle we can supply them. We also have a fishing boat available for hire, if you want to do a little more than just sit on the bank. Simply ask when you make your booking, or upon arrival.

The internationally renowned Hay Festival of literature and film takes place for ten days in late May / early June each year.
Ramblers will want to walk some or all of Offa's Dyke Path, one of twelve designated National Trails, which runs nearby.
No stay in this area is complete without a visit to the Brecon Beacons National Park, an area of outstanding natural beauty containing some of the most spectacular and distinctive upland formations in southern Britain.

History
The earliest mention of the place today known as Whitney-on Wye is in 1086 in one of the two volumes of what became known as the Domesday Book.
The local church, restored in 1904, features a splendid late 17th century Williams monument and some woodwork. The reredos behind the altar dates from 1629.
In the late 18th century much of Hereford's trade with the outside world was carried on barges on the River Wye, up to Whitney-on-Wye and beyond. See the history and old photos.
